Second, in windows, there’s no guarantee at all that your usb port will come up as the same serial port number after a reboot. Mine is branded as ct and comes as USB only no serial port at all.

Yes, it’s just a USB to serial adapter, but this one actually works.

I personally have never got mine to work with the USB driver, but when you install the USB driver the command prompt will open do what it needs to do and closes so your driver is installed. I uninstalled the LXi VinylExpress software, and re-installed. So it must be the plotter and not the software. Mine even came with a cable. I have a creation ct USB version. Yes, the cutter would probably have to be on when you turn on the computer or plug in the cable for it to be recognized. First off, do not use the built-in usb port of the cutter. I was running windows 8.
